For Ernesto Claps and Giovanni Mercuri empanadas represent creativity, friendship, and energy. Their shop is a journey through the flavors of Argentine cuisine.
Ernesto Teodoro Claps was born in Argentina to Italian parents who passed on to him the passion for cooking, good food, and family. In 2009 Ernesto opened Terra Lucana, a farmhouse with an Italian restaurant. After many years of success, he finally fulfilled his desire to bring Argentine cuisine to the Italian peninsula.

Giovanni Mercuri was born in Rome and in 2017 he left for Argentina. It was here that he tried empanadas for the first time: the perfect food for every moment of his journey! The more he ate them, the more he imagined making them known in Italy as well.

Ernesto Claps had the same desire. The idea emerged over a shared meal of empanadas, giving rise to a unique product born from the right combination of cultures – so far away but at the same time so close. Together they opened CEIBO Empanadas Argentina & Cocina al Disco in Rome, an Argentinian restaurant with an extensive menu, mainly based on empanadas and other dishes made with the Argentine technique of “cocina al disco.” Through flavors and details, their shop will take you on a thrilling journey to the Tierra del Fuego.
